The Convertible® Filtration Manifold System
THE CONVERTIBLE® Manifold is a dot/slot blotter designed for the immobilization of nucleic acids or proteins onto a membrane with the use of a vacuum source.
  • The patented design eliminates the need of screws or clamps for easy assembly.
  • Five interchangeable top plates and gaskets allow a variety of applications.
  • Leakproof seal provided by the same vacuum source that completes the filtration.
  • Top plates and gaskets indexed to the universal base plate to ensure proper fit.
  • Sample wells are arranged to match the dimensions of mul-tichannel pipettes.
  • Comes in a storage case to protect surfaces from scratches.
  • Apparatus components and precut membranes available separately.
  • Requires a minimum vacuum of 8 to 10 in of Hg.
Membrane pump MP86 is suitable for use with the Convertible®.

Examples of chemiluminescent detection (above) and Western-blot processing (right) using THE CONVERTIBLE ‚ System. Above: Various dilutions of human DNA (1, 2.5, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, and 250 ng) were filtered onto nylon membranes using the 96-well dot and 48-well slot formats. Right: Rat brain extract was electrophoresed using the Mini-V 8•10 Apparatus, blotted to nitrocellulose, and probed with various amounts of affinity-purified Anti-Protein Kinase C Isozyme-Specific Antibodies (e, d, and g, respectively) in THE CONVERTIBLE System. Enzyme activity was visualized using Goat-Anti-Rabbit IgG Alkaline-Phosphatase Conjugate and chromogenic substrates NBT and BCIP.
