While the PLT (Pipette Leak Tester) unit cannot replace regular gravimetric testing, daily pipette checks can provide a safeguard during the periods between calibrations. Even the smallest leaks are detected! Process reliability for the pipettes is thus significantly improved.
The most frequent cause of inaccuracy in piston-operated pipettes is leakage. This arises from damage either to the seals, pistons, or tip cones. Often not detectable by the naked eye, leaks lead to significant volume errors.
The BRAND pipette leak tester (PLT unit) for air displacement pipettes finds even the smallest leaks within seconds.
- Test limit values for all commercially available single and multichannel pipettes in the volume range 1µl to 10ml are pre-programmed.
- Test with and without tips to assist in leak source diagnosis .
- Test results in seconds.

Three service levels are offered to suit your needs - Bronze, Silver, and Gold.
In all the service options the pipette liquid end is disassembled, cleaned and visually inspected. New seals and ‘O’ rings will be fitted as standard, if new seal and 'O' ring is not required, please specify at time of ordering. The pipette is then reassembled, the accuracy and linearity are checked and, if required, adjusted to the manufacturer's specification.
The price of parts is not included in the service price. Customers will be advised prior to replacement of any additional parts, other than seals and 'O' rings, if required.
The pipette service workshop and engineer both work to ISO 9002 standard and in accordance with DIN 12650. The calibration weights are traceable to UKAS accredited certification standard, and the software meets ISO 8655, DIN 12650, ISO 9000, NCCLS and GLP requirements. All service levels include a certificate of conformity
Most popular makes/models of pipette can be serviced. Turnaround time is generally within 3 days of receipt of the pipette (spare parts allowing)
All the above options are exclusive of any parts required, VAT and carriage.
A completed Decontamination Certificate is required for every pipette returned for servicing. Please click here to display one for printing.
